The staggering number of serious injuries and deaths of college students has never received proper attention from the public. This is true even following the recent example of violence at Virginia Tech, as far too little attention is given to the large numbers of school and fraternity hazing, sexual assaults and other forms of violence regularly occurring on college campuses across the country. Carson was born in Austin, Texas on April 17, 1990; he was a third generation graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School. He left this life on December 2, 2008 following a fraternity initiation ritual where he was compelled to drink large quantities of alcohol. After becoming unresponsive, Sigma Alpha Epsilon members put Carson in a vehicle to take him to the hospital, but ultimately abandoned the trip for fear of getting themselves and their fraternity in trouble. They returned to the house and left Carson on a mattress, he never work up. Carson died from acute alcohol poisoning; his blood alcohol level was .40.

On February 2, 2005, Matthew Carrington was left to die of water intoxication on the floor of a cold, wet, sewer infested fraternity basement in Chico, California, following hideous acts of hazing. He was terribly degraded and mistreated for the last three days of his life, all for the purpose of gaining admission into the fraternity, demonstrating his worthiness, and satisfying the brotherly love that the fraternity members promoted. Seven Chi Tau Fraternity Members were charged with hazing and four of those were also charged with felony manslaughter. Matt's Law was signed by Governor Schwarzenegger on September 29, 2006 and went into effect on January 1, 2007. We Miss You, Matt is frequently updated with new stories, pictures and updates on Matt's Law.

The National Crime Victim Bar Association

The National Crime Victim Bar Association (NCVBA), an affiliate of the National Center for Victim of Crime, helps victims find attorneys and allied professionals who can assist in obtaining the resources necessary for physical and emotional healing. In addition, the NCVBA provides technical assistance to attorneys representing crime victims in the civil justice process.

The MJTF now has members in New Hampshire, Vermont, Georgia, Maine, Massachusetts and Ohio.
